The Breakfast...
The Elevate Vision Breakfast is designed for individuals who want to see the trajectory of crime, poverty, lack of education and hopelessness change for kids in the inner-city of Birmingham -- and throughout the country. We believe in the power of relationships to change the heart of a child. Elevate’s intensive youth-development model is uniquely intensive and holistic. Unlike volunteer-based models, Elevate hires full-time, salaried Teacher-Mentors who reflect the communities they serve to teach an accredited curriculum on Character and Leadership in public school classrooms. These Teacher-Mentors serve as a reliable adult model and mentor to these kids both in and out of school.
Our student surveys show that 83% of our inner-city youth do not live with their biological father, or feel they have a reliable adult in their lives. Elevate changes that reality. Your support of Elevate changes the life of an inner-city child in a tangible, practical life-changing way!
Elevate Overview...
Elevate is the sole program in the nation that hires full-time individuals who work as Teacher-Mentors in public school classrooms. We assign three (3) Teacher-Mentors to a single classroom to teach accredited courses for a letter grade on 'Character and Leadership'.
When the school bell rings at day's end, our teacher-mentors have a unique platform to provide the love and warmth of caring adults in a mentoring relationship, which Mentoring Relationship is 24/7!
-- The video, What Is Elevate?, provides a wonderful overview.
-- Read the Elevate Impact Report to learn more about how this 40-year-old program covering 20+ cities and reaching 20,000 inner-city kids is making a difference. The Report provides the results of BEFORE and AFTER surveys that show the impact of a Teacher-Mentor relationship for three (3) successive semesters.

Personal Student Testimonites
We asked Elevate students, "How has your Teacher-Mentor impacted your life?" . Here's what they said about Teacher-Mentor Terrance:
• “He always offered me wisdom and gave me encouragement when I needed it the most. He always made me push myself and strive to graduate. He always told me to not hang around people that I know is not going to help me.”
• “Mr. T is a guiding force in the social aspects of my life. He’s changed my social skills and how I interact [with others] very heavily since the 9th grade. Before I got to class [Elevate] I felt really boxed out of the majority of social interactions and social events with other people, friends, and kids my age. And I feel that Mr. T has had a great impact on how I interact with people now.”
• "Mr. T has helped me with coping strategies and how to cope with my feelings through hard times. My feelings, I didn't think there was a way out of it. I didn't think that there was anyway I could stop feeling that way, but Mr. T helped me and gave me strategies.
• "I was anti-social when I first got in Mr. T's class. I didn't like being around a lot of people, not in groups, not meeting with people. I was shy. But now, I love coming to class. I love being in Mr. T's class. I love meeting new people. I love talking to new people. I love being in groups now. And the reason for that is because Mr. T helped me."
• "Through my time at Elevate, I gained valuable insights into personal growth, leadership, and communication. One of the key lessons I learned was the importance of mindset, how having a growth mindset is essential for overcoming and learning from obstacles and taking a step closer to achieving success. Elevate taught me to view setbacks as opportunities for learning and growth."
• "My teacher has taught me lots of things. He teaching me respect, agreement, disagreement, being more career minded, having more vision in life. He helped me to grow my vision and think of other careers and professions I can choose.
• "At the time when I got into Elevate I was dealing with depression. Last year I lost my mom and he [Mr. T] has been really encouraging. If he sees me sad or anything, he'll gives me encouraging words and just be there for me. I don't really go out a lot and usually deal with my depression alone, but if he [Mr. T] sees me sad or something, he'll invite me out to go somewhere with Elevate."
